KPFZ 88.1 is Lake County's volunteer-run, listener-supported community radio station broadcasting from historic downtown Lakeport, California. Owned by Lake County Community Radio Inc., a nonprofit public benefit corporation, the station airs more than 50 commercial-free music and public affairs programs spanning reggae, country, and local talk — with a particular commitment to giving voice to underrepresented communities, including Native American residents. Rooted in the grassroots spirit of its pirate-radio origins in 1996, KPFZ became California's first licensed LP-FM station in 2001 before upgrading to full power at 88.1 FM.
